S10E08 - Golem Gauntlets

Dec 30, 2025  –

The heroes start the session in front of a dungeon stone wall with 3 holes. Through the holes, they can see chained zombies moaning. The heroes efficiently and gruesomely dispatch two zombies and crush the third one against the ceiling by finding a way to quickly raise the stone door. They then secure the stone door in place by tying the pulley that had lifted it to the large stairway fence.

Inside the room with the tree corpse zombies, they see a cart with a sarcophagus on top, a bronze shield hanging from the back wall, two large statues around it, and six glass cauldrons filled with bones and skulls distributed through the room. Chos informs the party that he’s feeling undead energy coming from every cauldron. The party starts discussing what to do, but after a few minutes, they get interrupted by Fionghan, who sounds the alarm as a metal and flesh golem comes out of one of the corridors, directly headed toward them. During the ensuing grueling battle, the heroes discover how tough a golem can be, but end up killing it.

With a stronger sense of urgency than he already had before the fight, Krariak can’t resist grabbing the bronze shield, sprints towards it, and tries to grab it, but it’s stuck to the wall. His attempt wakes up a ghostly hunting spirit contained within that starts shooting at him and Chos, who is also in the room. While the two heroes try to avoid the deadly spears from the spirit, they both pull the chariot towards the tomb’s entrance, but that activates a magical trap, and skeletons start pouring out of the glass cauldrons.

While the rest of the party is fending off the monsters by casting Entangle, Spirit Guardians, thunderwave, and shooting arrows left and right, Silas instead jumps on top of the chariot, opens the sarcophagus, and grabs the treasure inside, becoming inhabited by Papazotl’s spirit. They all then rush out after they finish killing the second horde of skeletons.

Outside, while they’re catching their breath, Silas spots another skeleton key, chases it down, kills it, and snaps its head, not yet knowing what they may need these skeleton heads for.

Silas takes the initiative further and starts walking up the side corridor of the new corridor they find themselves in, and ends up in a main corridor nearly identical to the previous one. Concerned about the nature of this copy corridor, he walks back to the original corridor and rejoins the party.

Meanwhile, Krariak and Chos inspect the end of the original corridor and find a room with a new sarcophagus, four gargoyle heads on the walls, a marble checkers floor, and magic light shining from the ceiling onto the sarcophagus. The spirit of Moa that is currently inhabiting Krariak warns him that that room doesn’t have any trickster god symbols. Obo’laka, the trickster god inside Sophi’s head, confirms this. However, our heroes are too curious, and they open the sarcophagus. As soon as the ceiling light hits the bottom of the sarcophagus, a stone door starts closing in, and the heroes rush to misty step away from the room, never finding out what awaited them in the room.

The heroes then decide that they’ve got all they wanted from this level of the dungeon and, after a short rest, walk the stairs down to the third level.

On the third level, the heroes first explore the long and large Western corridor, where they find two alcoves with tomb guardians on them, chained to each other at the feet. The heroes cast pass without trace, and then Chos tries to step over the chain, but as soon as he does, the guardians wake up and pummel him, dropping him to less than half of his life in one round. Another fight starts. Less than a round into the fight, Krariak, with Silas’s help, grabs one of the flesh golems, runs to the large staircase that connects the dungeon levels, and attempts to throw the first golem into the void. Sadly, the two golems turn out to be too heavy for the duo, and they stop one square short of their goal, finishing the episode on a cliff-hanger.
