The heroes start the session at their inn, the Tall Husband tavern. They take Sister Bianca out, they tie her properly and go to sleep instead of saving Klik and Klak. They also agree with Bernabette, the babysitter who lost Klik and Klak, to meet next morning so that she can help them meet Lord Yaggira and, perhaps, exchange Sister Bianca for Klik and Klak. Before leaving, the babysitter tells them that Sister Bianca is well steemed by Lord Tacitus, so they should be careful.
During the night, Sister Bianca asks Lyra to go to the outhouse bathroom. Lyra offers the “cuña” but she farts in response and a malicious smile. With a bit of disgust, Lyra wakes Nemo up to be alert and then leads her to the out house.
Sister Bianca enters the outhouse and starts farting and not faking that she’s defecating. Then suddenly, Lyra hears a crack and sees Sister Bianca running away through the opposite outhouse wooden wall that she just destroyed as she’s pulling up her pants. Lyra shouts “Help!”, follows the assassin nun, and casts Hold Person but Sister Bianca succeeds on her saving throw. The nun’s next action is to cash a spell that makes Lyra disappear and then she runs away. By the time Nemo arrives to the inn’s courtyard there is no Sister Bianca and no Lyra to be seen. He asks two hooded men who just arrive in the area if they’ve seen a druid or a nun but they doin’t respond. Nemo then quickly looks for fresh tracks and follows them for a few feet, but then when he turns around the first corner they seem to disappear and he sees nothing. Soto arrives at the same time, soon followed by Brand, but there’s nothing to be done. Bianca has escaped and Lyra is gone. Luckily a minute after her disappearance she pops back into existence and she recounts being transported to a very strange place full of giant mushrooms, a small green dinosaur and psychodelic colors everywhere.
The party goes back to sleep to finish resting.
The next morning, during breakfast, the party hears about a night raid at the Tall Husband inn by Lord Tacitus’s guards. They also hear that an aristocrat has been killed.
After breakfast, Brand and Paquito head to the forge they had rented to continue working on their new swords while the rest of the party heads to the sewers where they threw the dead lions last night, grab the two bodies that were still there, starting to rot, and put them into the bag of holding. Sadly, they hit the bag of holding’s max weight allowance, rupturing it and making it disappear, and losing all the valuables they had put inside. Their initial plan was to grab the lions and start exploring the sewers but Ike and Nemo get poisoned simply by entering the sewers and they instead go back to Brand to get healed and then, when they are going to see Hjalmus to get info about relationships between the different lords, two guards stop them, a fight erupts and the heroes, avoiding killing any of them, escape into the sewers.
Once there, they start exploring the dimly network of both sewage and drinking water system. They decide to go uphill and to follow the more ancient paths under the expectation that Lord Yaggira’s lair might be there.
At one point they come across a dark side alley where they hear a female scream, a splash, and then silence. A while later, while Lyra is scouting in rat form, they find a group of five scared kobolds. Lyra wild-shapes back, casts Thunderwave in pre-emptive self-defense and insta-kills them. They loot the bodies and continue their merry way.
A few minutes later, they catch up with a group of hooded humanoids carrying a stretcher with two sleeping bodies in them. They stealthily track them and arrive to a large municipal pumping station with large grates on top and several side tunnels. The group climbs one of the two pairs of spiral staircases and disappear through one of the top corridors. The heroes inspect the rest of the pumping station and find eight bodies of guards who were recently killed and several of them partially eaten. Ike inspects one of them and sees bite marks that look like they come from humanoids. He also sees bite marks on the necks. Nemo whispers “Vampires!”
Suddenly, feral cultists start sprouting out of some of the side tunnels. Before the enemies have a chance to attack, Ike casts fireball immolating half of them. Then Soto tackles one of the remaining cultists, they both fall into the water and the cultist disintegrates as if the water was acid. Seeig this, Lyra casts elementalism on the remaining cultists who also immolate instantly.
With no enemies in sight, the heroes follow the initial group of cultists by climbing the spiral staircase and going to the end of the new tunnel which has exquisitely carved stone walls. At the end of the tunnel lies a large stone door with a vasin to its left and inscription on top of the basin.
Notes
- get monitor from David
- get tablet from Reinoud
- get mic for recording next session
- sleep well that day and NO CROISSANTS that day
- make every inn different, have a collection of prepared inns / taverns to give them their own air. They arrived to a new inn and it was completely bland
- 3d print fireball area
- Have a collection of “city areas” that I can bring up quickly during the play to not rely on improvising city streets (I don’t make them as interesting as I want)
- Have also a colletion of buildings like inns, taverns, and villas / houses so that I can “improvise” believable buildings.
