The heroes start the episode right after knocking the angel and Mon unconscious.
First, Ike, still invisible, rips open the corpse of the priest they killed in combat a few moments ago and takes his heart out and puts it in his shoulder bag. The darkness that has been talking inside of him congratulates him on such action.
At the same time, Soto chases after Mon’s mastiff who is still carrying Mon, catches up, knocks the mastiff unconscious and brings Mon back to the temple’s area.
Brand and Ike feel a pang of guilt and stabilize both of them. Then, from somewhere in the forest, someone starts shooting at them with deadly arrows. The heroes hide inside the temple, free Jinu, Klik and Klak from their hanging jails, and then Lyra looks for an auxiliary exit at the back of the temple while Sister Helka’s helper escapes.
Not finding a good way out, and with certain death if they step outside in the dark, Ike and Nemo both turn invisible while first Brand and later Soto attract shots from whom they now identify as Sister Helka, the assassin nun. At one point, the young man who helps Helka leaves this room and runs out of the temple.
Between mainly Nemo and Soto, they take the nun down to the ground, and knock her unconscious. Then the heroes go back into the temple, loot the place getting confidentail information about the sisterhood, magic items, a manual for lonely young boys, and a religious relic called Memoirs of Jasper Starling.
Around this time, Mon, the bountyhunter who was still tied, is awaken and Brand casts zone of truth to interrogate him. He confirms that he’s not going to stop until he brings Lyra back to this noble family in the jungle town of ???? in Arcene. Then he tries to escape while the group is arguing what to do, but Soto catches him and knocks him unconscious again with his flurry of blows. Lyra casts speak with animals and successfully persuades the mastiff, Rufus, to go away with Mon unconscious on his back and never come back.
With the Mon situation solved, for now, and while the rest of the party is looting the place, Ike performs heart transplant on the unconscious angel with the heart he took from the priest. It doesn’t turn out well and the sorcerer tries to make it look as if the angel is still sleeping. He also takes the angel’s armor off and leaves it on a pile in case Brand is interested in swapping armors, which, as soon as they leave the temple minutes later, he does.
After looting the place, including taking a barrel of whale oil, taking a letter from Sister Gloria to Sister Helka that blames the heroes for things they haven’t done, like setting the Ironwound forest on fire, and then the heroes they quickly rush to their ships and take sail. Before leaving, Ike asks Jinu to stay behind. He shows him what he did to the angel’s body and he gets feedback about how to do it better next time, but Jinu does tell him that doing heary surgery is not something that he can learn in an afternoon.
Then on the way back to the ship, Jinu tells Ike that he’s leaving the group because the necromancer is finding it’s getting too scary for him.
Pietro complains that Augur hasn’t been seen in the whole day. Nemo carefully searches the whole boat and this time, they find the cat. Someone had burnt his tail and the poor unconscious cat was set in a way that as soon as the magic engine of the party’s new ship would have started, it would have killed it.
The next day, Brand and Lyra cast Zone of Truth around Ike and they interrogate their friend to try to find out what his true intentions are. The puppet doesn’t lie but refuses to answer some questions.
Later that day, Jinu tells Nemo that he’s leaving on the next stop. Nemo completely understands and wishes him the best.
The party also identifies some of the magic items they have and then consider what to do about the ship and which direction to go. Ike suggests sailing to Arcene, to Lyra’s hometown, but she sternely refuses.
They also discuss what to do about the ship: they know that as soon as they switch the engine on, they will be affected by the ship’s cursed magic. They consider rushing as much as possible with the oil they have and then abandon the galleon to not get cursed, and continue with their existing boat, but Paco complains about the party changing the agreement they made just the day before.
Still discussing what to do, Paquito screams “Boat on sight!” at the same time that Ike feels a tingle of excitement. He feels another part of him is near!
