The heroes start the session at the caves. Ike persuades Brine that he will get a barrel of fish oil and a human head by the evening to prove his allegiance to Brine’s group. The rest of the party, which was hiding outside the cave, is discovered but Ike diffuses the tension and the warforged still give him the opportunity to prove himself. Soto decides to stay, hidden, at the cave’s entrance natural arch while the rest of the group goes back to Skeldharbor.
Once they’re back, they first meet one of the fishermen who hired them. They tell him about the situation and their plan. The fisherman gives him an empty barrel and reveals that mail has arrived from Ironwound one day earlier. The party, fearing Sister Gloria might be in town, rushes to talk to Paco to tell him they have to leave that day. While they’re talking with him, a group led by Mon arrives and a fight erupts.
Mon, his mastiff, and two guards try to jump into the boat while the party frantically tries ot detach ropes and remove the connecting plank. On the first turn, the last enemy in the group, a cleric who constantly prays “Hare Pelor, Hare, Hare,” summons a battleforce angel. The boat starts sailing away but several enemies jump into the boat. The heroes repel them while Paco steers the ship away. The angel grabs Lyra at one point and flies 60 feet up, but then she turns into a spider and sails down to one of the two little rowing boats that the party had tied to the sailing ship. Next the angel tries to grab Nemo but fails. The star of the escape is Paquito who killed one of the guards, evaded a guiding bolt from the cleric on the shore, climbed to the sailing ship’s boat and then jumped at the angel who was still aboard bringing her underwater. Lyra went after him, transformed into a giant octopus and freed the courageous young man from drowning at the hands of the heavy armor clad angel and went back to the boat.
After recovering from the battle, and eager to get a faster boat to help them, the heroes then went back to the caves. On the way there, Ike, cut the heads of the guard that they left aboard, and then went into the cave, with a barrel full of water and a bit of oil on top, and the human head they asked him about. He gave them the items, took more drugs, and partied with the warforged waiting for Brine-9 to wake up. Meanwhile, Nemo and Lyra went underneath the docked crystal-covered boat that the pirates had in the cave, stealthily unmoored it and stole it thanks to Ike distracting the stoned warforged. Brine-9, who was aboard next to the helm, got tied and muffled before he could ring the alarm, and Soto levitated away from the arch onto the boat as they escaped.
One of the stronger warforged spotted them fleeing and shot at them with one of the cannonballs but missed. Soto then did the same and didn’t miss. The shot almost instakilled the warforged and destroyed his cannon. The rest of the warforged, without a boss and stoned, were confused. They tried to follow the thieves but soon realized that they would be sittig ducks if they followed after the big boat on a rowing boat. Instead them and Ike decided to go back to the cave, take more drugs and keep singing and partying and leave the problem of what to do with the rest of their lives to their future selves.
After waiting until they became distracted again, Ike turned invisible, looted the place getting gold, an expensive looking bottle, and gems, and he set the meth-lab area that was next to the fish oil barrels on fire. Then he run to the opposite cave exit and jumped into the water, invisible at first, but when Lyra said she couldn’t find him, turned back invisible.
With everybody back on the boat and the pirates side quest complete, the heroes took a long rest while deciding how to rescue Jinu, Klik and Klak, and Little Sebastian, and also thinking of how to get their side quest gold back. In the end, they decided to go stealthily at nigh, and try to get new sails for their newly found ship and sail further South. They also talked with Paco and agreed to give the ship to Paco in exhange for Paco and his crew to help them reach Zoqoi and be freed from having to pay them any money.
