The heroes start the session at the bottom of the stairs in the dungeon that they entered through the ruined chapel in the forest outside Skeldharbor.
Ike finishes attuning to his new silver ring which turns out to be a ring of fire resistance. Nemo hears the voice of the allegedly sister of Tiamat that inhabits him tell him that this is a hot place. Nemo asks her to reveal her name but she refuses.
Nemo then searches the hallway they’re in for traps but doesn’t find any. When he reaches the end of the hallway, in full darkness, he finds a small room with stairs going down and then going back up later leading to a door, flanked by two statues. Worried about what might happen if he touches the floor, he asks Brand to throw him across the room towards the door. Brand does that, but the paladin triggers a pressure plate trap that Nemo hadn’t found. A big stone slab all the way at the beginning of the hallway slides down blocking the way out of this floor. At the same time, the brick walls at the back of each recess slide up revealing a battlefield under a brig orange sky where demons and devils are fighting against each other. Mechanisms in the room they just discovered also activate and magma slowly starts pouring into to the room.
Combat ensues. The heroes kill wave after wave of demon and devil fodder but they don’t stop coming. The heroes are feeling worringly excited about the pain and damage they’re doing. Lyra is definitely in her happy place. They keep killing monsters and piling corpse after corpse, trying to do so on the recesses to block the portals. At one point Ike casts invisibility and crosses the portal into the battlefield and quickly goes back into the dungeon and grabs Lyra’s leg who starts screaming at him to let go.
After more than 30 enemy corpses lie on the hallway, the second form of the trap reveals and the ceiling slides open revealing a row of flamethrowing pipes covering the whole hallway.. The room gets filled with supernatural fire and smoke that seriously damages the team and kills the monsters that were still in the room. The heroes finish the spined devil that was still alive and clump together in the tiny room where the magma level was almost up to their level but, luckily, the door unlocks and lets them cross into the next room.
The next room has large heavy chains on the walls at the entrance, followed by a 2 by 3 meters face statue of what appears to be an arch demon or arch devil. The voice in Nemo’s head asks him to kick the statue and he does, breaking part of it. Besides the head, two stairs lead up to a balcony where Nemo then goes, finds a treasure chest and an archway with black velvety cover. He calls up the party. Ike rushes forward excited about the treasure but lets Nemo handle it. Nemo inspects the inert treasure chest and then, as soon as he tries to open, it reveals its true form of a mimic. Nemo attacks it, then Ike casts Command with the word “Drop” and the chest spews out 150 gp and a magic wand of magic detection. Happy with the treasure, and they then gang up around the poor mimic and finish it in 2 rounds with no casualties.
Our party of savage killers ends the session taking a short rest.
